It is clear, both in the teachings of the Quran and those of the Prophet, that filial piety – that is, good relations with parents – is the act most recommended to Muslims, the one that comes just after the attestation of faith and the fulfillment of the obligations that follow from it (prayer, fasting, legal alms, pilgrimage). It is worth noting that this recommendation is cited precisely immediately after the ritual obligations.
There is no age limit for the practice of filial piety. Certainly, a young child is required to respect and obey their parents. But their own father is equally bound by the same filial piety towards his parents and family members, and neither his age nor his adult status diminishes in any way his obligations in this regard.
