The Author
Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari (810–870 AD / 194–256 H.) is one of the greatest hadith scholars in the history of Islam. After years of travels and titanic verification work, he selected approximately 7,275 hadiths from hundreds of thousands, according to reliability criteria of unprecedented rigor. His collection, entitled Al-Jami' al-Musnad al-Sahih, is commonly called Sahih al-Bukhari and enjoys almost universal trust among Muslim scholars throughout the centuries.
